Parade fun
for everyone

Thousands lined the streets of Richmond and Rosenberg Friday
morning, cheering on some 150 entries in the annual Fort
Bend County Fair Parade.
When all was said and done, Living Water Christian School
had the Overall Outstanding entry, featuring Mount Rushmore
and a space shuttle, along with plenty of famous historical
figures.
Judges’ Favorite was Simonton Christian Academy, whose float
proclaimed, “God is our Legacy; Jesus is our Promise” in
conjunction with the parade theme of “Legacy of Yesterday —
Promise of Tomorrow.”
Entries are required to be decorated in the parade theme to
be judged.
First place in the Non-Profit category was Sugar Land Health
Care Center, followed in second place by Fort Bend County
Fair Grapes in the Brazos Wine Committee, Texana Learning
Center in Sugar Land in third place.
In the Schools category, first place went to Living Water
Christian School, second place was Holy Rosary Catholic
School and third place was Simonton Christian Academy.
Frito-Lay captured first pace in the Commercial category,
with Fiesta Mart in second place and J-Fly Bail Bonds and
Robinson Tax in third.
Taking first place in the Youth Civic category was Girl
Scout of San Jacinto Council, with Cub Scout Pack 108 in
second place and Rosenberg Roughnecks cheerleaders in third.
Of the 10 candidates for 2009 Fort Bend County Fair Queen,
London Mays won first place in the Queens category of the
parade, with Anyssa Silva in second place and Kaitlyn
Hoffman in third.
There were only three entries in the Trail Riders category
this year. First place was Fort Bend Trailriders, second was
Fort Bend County Youth Rodeo and third was Collins Cattle
