Things will be heating up
October 1st and October 2nd as teams will be competing for
Grand Champion BBQ Team at the 74th Annual Fort Bend County
Fair. BBQ Teams will be competing in Brisket, Ribs, Chicken
and Fajitas on October 2nd. The Culinary Contests will take
place on Friday, October 1st as teams cook up their best pot
of pinto beans, beef chili, seafood gumbo and beef stew.
The top ten teams in each category will receive a trophy or
plaque. In addition to bragging rights, the teams will be
competing for over $1,000 in cash awards. A new category has
been added this year for BBQ Sauce.
According to Rusty Gibson, BBQ Cookoff - Director In Charge,
“We had 36 teams compete in 2009 and are hoping for a big
turnout this year. The addition of cash prizes will
definitely help increase the number of entries.”
